Bain Dohne

Author picture

Bain Dohne served in the Royal Australian Air Force as both an Enlisted member and an Officer, a dual perspective that shaped his understanding of how institutions support, and sometimes fail, the people within them. His service brought direct exposure to physical and mental health systems, the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce, and the human complexities that sit beneath the surface of military life. That experience, including his own medical discharge, informs the lens he brings to advocacy and leadership today.

Bain is the CEO and Founder of the Odyssey Leadership Foundation, a non-partisan not-for-profit dedicated to strengthening Australian democracy by supporting organisations that develop youth capability in debate, critical thinking, and civic engagement. His work is grounded in a conviction that the quality of our institutions depends on the quality of the people who one day lead them.

OpOz recognises the depth of history that shapes Australia: ancient, enduring, and continually renewed by the many.

From its first custodians to the generations that have built their lives here, Australia is a shared story shaped over time. All Australians hold a common responsibility to contribute to that story with care, integrity, and purpose, so that what follows is worthy of what already exists.
