Professor Ben Wadham is Professor of Defence and Veteran Studies at Flinders University and Director of Open Door: Understanding and Supporting Service Personnel and their Families. A veteran, sociologist, criminologist and educator, his work focuses on the experiences and wellbeing of veterans, first responders and their families.
Through Open Door, Professor Wadham leads research and initiatives designed to deepen understanding of the challenges affecting service communities and translate evidence into practical support. The program conducts blue-sky, applied, translational and evaluation research, while developing educational and information resources across print and digital media. His work brings together research, education and lived experience to build broader awareness of the issues affecting veterans, first responders and their families and contribute to more informed policy, services and community responses.
